Moore On Top, Battle Continues for the Moore War Cup – Presented by Eskridge Honda

Since the start of the school year area Moore high schools have battled in head-to-head competition to determine who will win the Moore War Cup at the end of the school year.

This spring Moore, Southmoore, and Westmoore have met on the football field, softball field, volleyball court and on the cross country trail. The competition is at an all-time high with Moore High School leading the way. Currently the Moore Lions are 5-1 in head-to-head competition against their friendly foes. Southmoore is 3-4, while Westmoore is 1-4 with more games coming this semester.

FOOTBALL

Ah yes, the classic. Moore vs. Westmoore. The Moore Lions left no doubt in this one as they defeated Westmoore, 35-3.

Southmoore would get in the win column on Sept. 6th with a win over Westmoore, 17-14 in a close one.

Moore would then face Southmoore on Sept. 13th, taking home their second win over a cross-town rival, 45-13. The win gave Moore an advantage in football.

SOFTBALL

If it’s softball, you know the Moore Public School girls will be tough and the action on the field was tremendous.

Westmoore and Southmoore got things started on August 8th in a contest that witnessed Southmoore picking up the win, 6-1.

Westmoore would go on to face Moore five days later in a game that witnessed a shutout from Moore as the Lady Lions brought home the win, 5-0.

Southmoore vs. Moore on August 22nd was a nailbiter. Southmoore would prevail, 1-0 in a huge win for the Lady Cats.

Moore would come back for the revenge game on Sept. 5th and defeat Southmoore, 10-0.

VOLLEYBALL

Ranked #13 in Class 6A, Westmoore proved to be too much for Southmoore in the first volleyball contest between the two this season. Westmoore wins it, 3-1.

Moore sits atop the mountain in Class 6A having been ranked No. 1 or 2 all season. Southmoore, ranked #14, would face Moore on Sept. 12th. Moore showed why they are the top team in Class 6A with a win over Southmoore, 3-0.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Moore girls were great in the Moore XC Meet taking home 1st place with the Southmoore girls finishing 7th overall. The Moore boys placed 2nd and Southmoore boys finished 6th overall.

At the Westmoore XC Meet, the host team did very well with the girls finishing 3rd overall and the boys taking 2nd place.
