VYPE: Taylor, what year do you graduate, what sport(s) do you play?
Taylor Astle: I graduate in 2025 and I play volleyball.
VYPE: What advice would you give to younger members of your team?
TA: I would tell the younger girls to keep their heads up. Volleyball is a super demanding sport physically and mentally and if they can have a good attitude during it then it will all be worth it.
VYPE: What are some of the challenges that come with being a senior captain, what are some of your favorite things?
TA: It’s definitely hard to bring the team together when we are down and to carry that weight. But I love being able to support the girls and be that person to lean on.
VYPE: What is one thing you think you do well as a student?
TA: I think I am very organized. I’ve had straight A’s all my life and I think it is due to just paying attention and staying on top of things.
VYPE: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where and why?
TA: I would love to travel to Europe. Italy and Greece are definitely at the top of my bucket list. They are just both so pretty and have amazing food.
VYPE: What are your goals after high school?
TA: I got admitted to the OSU veterinary medicine program. After 8 years I will be a DMV and hope to work as an exotic large animal veterinarian.
VYPE: How do you recover from a tough loss?
TA: Just knowing that my team has my back and that we are all going through the same thing really helps. We know that we are all fighting for each other which is a huge motivation.
VYPE: What subject has been the most enjoyable for you in high school?
TA: It’s not so much a subject but the veterinary assisting program has by far been my favorite. We learned so much in that class and I also got to do over 100 hours of internship through it which I loved.
VYPE: What will you miss most about high school?
TA: I am going to miss all my friends. It’s scary to think that I may never see some of them again and to think of all of the memories I have made with them. They are by far the best people I know.
