Success is something that almost everyone strives for. And whether they are working towards a career, playing a sport, raising a family, or something else, they know that it will take time and effort in order to reach their goal. A’Naisha Crawford says that it has taken three things for her to get where she is today.
“For me to be successful, it has taken the three P’s,” she said. “Practice, patience, and prayer have all helped me to be a better athlete and person.”
Crawford is in her sophomore year at Frederick Douglass High School. She is a member of the school’s softball, wrestling, and track teams.
There have been people in her life who have made an impact on A’Naisha. She says that there are a few that have been very influential.
“My parents are the biggest role models for me,” she said. “They sacrifice so much for me to play the game I love. I also have a couple of teachers that have influenced me. Ms. Noeil is always positive. She challenged me last year while preparing me for college. Also, coach Ashley motivates me to be my best everytime I step on the field.”
Just like most athletes, Crawford has had times in her career when things didn’t go as planned. But she says that staying focused has helped her get through it.
“I think my highlight would be coming out of my hitting slump and hitting multiple home runs,” she stated. “I keep myself motivated by looking at the big picture. I want to be able to make a difference in my community. Also, knowing that my college will be paid for not only through Softball but academics.”
Playing for the Trojans is something that is special for A’Naisha and she hopes to continue to be an impact player.
“It means everything for me to represent the school both my parents graduated from,” she said. “Softball isn’t a huge thing in Oklahoma City Public School and I’m trying to change that.”
Not just in sports, but in life, Crawford holds to one thing that can help her get through any challenge in life.
“Philippians 4:13. ‘I’m a child of God. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’”
