EDMOND SANTA FE LADY WOLVES

Coach: Kyle Axton

23-24 Record: 15-11

OUTLOOK

Despite having some scoring to replace, the Lady Wolves of Santa Fe are poised to have another solid season under head coach Kyle Axton. Replacing Jerney Bennett will be tough, but coach Axton said the team has the player in place to take over that role.

“Aniyah Burney is a two-year starter and was our second leading scorer a year ago at 8.4 ppg. Aniyah can play multiple positions but is a natural shooting guard. She is crafty getting to the basket but can also shoot from deep with high efficiency,” said coach Axton.

Burney is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and a player who can also run the point. Besides scoring, Burney accounted for 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

Also look for Jayda Brown who brings a high basketball IQ and toughness to the floor. Brown is a coach’s kid (dad is head women’s coach at OC) who understands the game better than anyone.

“She always does the right thing and is willing to help her teammates in any way possible. Great work ethic, toughness, and a love for the game,” said Axton.

Aniston Jones is coming off an injury that kept her on the sidelines during her freshman season. Jones will play point guard where her speed and ability to get to the basket and finish in a variety of ways is on display.

“Confidence is her strongpoint, and she will most certainly make an immediate impact for us,” said Axton.
