Normally you wouldn’t want anyone calling you a rat, however when you say gym rat, it has a different meaning. That’s the way many of her teammates and the coaching staff at Jones describe Lydia Hall. Head coach Carson Mathews said Hall is focused on improving and helping her team win.
“Hall is constantly looking to improve her game. She comes in everything morning to get shots up and stays late after practice. She is extremely athletic and greatly contributes to our team success,” said coach Mathews.
The shooting guard is a senior this year and is looking forward to helping her team win games and make post season play. Hall started playing basketball in the third grade and has made many great memories on and off the court.
“My favorite memory as a Jones basketball player was my signing day with all my coaches and teammates being there,” said Hall.
Achieving her goal of playing at the next level is a great accomplishment for Hall.
“I am playing on the OBU women’s basketball team after high school. I plan to become an occupational therapist,” said Hall.
Her focus at the moment is helping the Lady Longhorns win games and making the post season tournaments. Hall said her current and former teammates have all left an impression on her.
“One of my former teammates from Edmond Santa Fe [Jerney Bennett] always encouraged me and pushed me at practice and in games to play better,” Hall said. “What I love most about my teammates is that they all work hard and want to win at all costs. Karma Lewis keeps everyone laughing and Kayleigh Long is the most serious.”
Away from the court, Hall said she loves art and playing sand volleyball in the summer.
