Two simple words explain Jakari Davis’s passion for basketball.
“It’s fun!” he exclaims.
His love of the game shows every time he steps on the court for the Moore Lions. Jakari is a point guard. His favorite part of the position is passing the ball. As a senior, his skill helps set the momentum of the game. Being part of a team is an important part of Jakari’s high school career. He has built connections with teammates and coaches he will always value.
The best times for Jakari are happening right now.
“Playing with 2024 seniors one last time,” he says is what he enjoys most about his senior season.
Basketball has taught him the importance of consistency. Being consistent is valuable in the game of basketball. Consistency is also a skill Jakari says is useful in his everyday life.
Playing for the Moore Lions and representing his high school as an athlete is something he has looked forward to since childhood.
“I have been here my whole life,” he says. Jakari started playing basketball early. “I was four years old when my parents signed me up to play little league.”
Being a leader for his team is something he worked hard for. The best advice came from his sister who always told him to be a leader, not a follower. The inspiration of his family has helped build him into the player and person he is. Jakari is particularly inspired by his parents and how hard they work.
The teammate Jakari looks up to is Tez. He is outgoing and has never met a stranger. The professional athlete he looks up to is NBA star LeBron James.
“He is the GOAT,” says Jakari.
When asked to choose a favorite teacher he recalls Ms. Tobey from eighth grade.
“She was kind and sweet,” said Jakari.
Basketball is a top priority for Jakari but when he is not working on the court he would enjoy taking a relaxing vacation. His dream vacation is to go to Hawaii with his family.
