Q&A with Moore’s Axton Wright – Presented by Gregory’s Sporting Goods

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in wrestling?
Axton Wright: My main goal is to qualify for state.
VYPE: What has wrestling taught you that you use in your daily life?
AW: I feel like the most important thing wrestling has taught me is discipline.
VYPE: What’s your favorite part of being a wrestler?
AW: Hanging out with my teammates at tournaments and duals.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
AW: My dad inspires me because he’s a hard worker and always puts his best forward.
VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in wrestling?
AW: Cutting weight is probably the hardest challenge in wrestling for me.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great wrestler?
AW: I think to be a great wrestler you have to have a mentality that says you’re going to be
the best.
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
AW: I would say my cousin, Luke, because he has skill in so many different sports.
VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
AW: Football, because I played as a little kid and loved it but stopped for wrestling.
VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
AW: I don’t really listen to music before my matches but when I do it’s usually something
by Ice Spice.
