PUTNAM CITY PIRATES
Coach: WILLIS ALEXANDER
7-5
OFFENSE
The Pirates are coming off a playoff victory a season ago and will have to develop quality depth while remaining healthy to have the season they have worked for this offseason. If those things can take place, and the off-field growth transfers to the field, the coaching staff is excited about the possibilities for the 2025 version of the Pirates. Operating out of the spread offense PC will look to control the line of scrimmage led by Tre Timberlake-Cobb (6-3, 290, Sr.), who in his first season playing along the offensive line graded at 88 percent. The play of Timberlake-Cobb and his fellow lineman will lead to the explosive plays the coaching staff is hoping to achieve multiple times per game. The Pirates will benefit from the addition of Schuyler Turnbull (6-3, 200, Sr.) from Millwood. As a Falcon last year, Turnbull passed for over 1,500 yards and rushed for more than 500 yards while totaling 20 touchdowns, earning him plenty of college interest from the likes of Tulsa, Air Force, Arkansas State among FCS and Division II offers. The new signal caller will have the benefit of Savion James (5-9, 170, Sr.) at wide receiver after totaling 641 yards on 34 receptions for nine touchdowns. James added another 122 yards as a return man while reaching paydirt once in special teams action. Rodgerick Sloan (5-10, 180, Sr.) is another dynamic player who, as a junior running back, totaled 824 rush yards, for a 5.2 yard per carry clip, and 141 receiving yards to score five touchdowns.
DEFENSE
Based out of the 4-3, the Pirates will rely upon a number of players who have valuable starting and playing experience on the defensive side of the ball. Dejon Ackerson (6-3, 200, Sr.) racked up 71 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, eight sacks, eight hurries, three pass break ups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery last season. That long list of stats to go along with his athleticism has the senior linebacker earning numerous scholarship offers and choosing Kansas State as his next home when his collegiate career begins. Defensive lineman Tripp Alexander (6-2, 275, Sr.) has the attention of numerous college programs after he finished last season with 50 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, eight sacks, 15 hurries, and two pass breakups. Alexander holds offers from Tulsa, UTSA, New Mexico, Kent State, and several others. The Pirates also have Keelan Johnson (6-0, 300, Sr.) along the defensive line, who completed his junior season with 21 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, and one fumble recovery. Sophomore Dominque Bacon (6-2, 215) was a force to be reckoned with on the freshman team last season and has a lot of upside. Keep an eye on the sophomore edge who could push for a starting spot this season. In the secondary, Keandre Huffman (5-7, 155, Jr.) returns and is a playmaker who is not afraid to make a tackle, break up a pass, force fumbles, and get the ball in his hands (one interception and one fumble recovery). The Pirates could not do what it does as a team without linebacker Thomas Stone. The most dependable member of the team, Stone is a volunteer with Special Olympics, a member of National Honor Society, along with Leadership Council and a team captain who puts the team before me.
