DOUGLASS TROJANS
Coach: DAMON TURNER
1-9
OFFENSE
In his third season running the Trojan football program, Damon Turner is back with five starters on the offensive side of the ball. “We’re young but still more experienced. We have to continue to grow and eliminate the mistakes and execute. Our goal is to go compete, be physical and execute. We will be a better-looking football team this season,” said coach Turner. At the helm of the spread offense is Cash Sanders (5-10, 180, So.) who played last season as a freshman. Sanders had over 100 yards of total offense in his first season of varsity play. Sanders will have a breakout season as a sophomore. Zamarius Ziegler (5-9, 175, Sr.) is a versatile athlete who can help this team at multiple positions including wide receiver, defensive back and the return game. Last season Ziegler had 30 carries for 115 yards and a score, with 14 receptions for 149 yards and a TD. Look for his production to increase this season. Kadis Vick (6-1, 210, So.) will see time at fullback and tight end. Vick had over 300 yards of offense and a couple of TDs to his credit.
DEFENSE
Look for the Trojans to run a 4-2-5 defense and bounce into a 3-4 when the situation calls for it. Vick will see time at linebacker and defensive end where he made 41 tackles and three sacks. Tristen Logan (5-7, 248, So.) is a young defensive lineman who saw time as a freshman last season. Logan had 26 tackles and two sacks in his first year of varsity play. Quanez Ziegler (5-7, 162, Sr.) and Zamarius are two defensive backs with big play capabilities. Both players will help in the return game. Last season Quanez had 26 tackles and 147 return yards. Davontae McCathern (6-1, 205, Jr.) is another linebacker/defensive end who puts pressure on opposing QBs. McCathern made 19 tackles and two sacks last season.
