Head Coach: Matt Layman
As the fairways and greens come alive with the promise of a new season, Tuttle High School’s golf team under the guidance of coach Matt Layman is gearing up for another shot at success. Coach Layman shares his insights on the team’s outlook for the upcoming season.
“We have everyone returning from a strong season last year,” Layman said with confidence. “We return six guys with Regionals and State Tournament experience. We won one tournament and had three runner-ups. A goal will be to earn a fourth-straight State Tournament berth but play better once we get there.”
The team’s schedule reflects their commitment to honing their skills and competing at the highest level:

Monday, April 1: WAC Conference Tournament (Hefner South – OKC)
Thursday, April 4: Southern OK Invitational (Duncan Golf & Tennis Club)
Wednesday, April 10: Kingfisher Regional Preview (Kingfisher Golf Course)
Monday, April 15: Elk City Invitational (Elk City Golf and Country Club)
Thursday, April 18: 4A State Preview (Shangri-La Resort- Afton)
Monday, April 22: Max Williamson Invitational (Dornick Hills and Lakeview – Ardmore)
The team roster boasts talented individuals ready to leave their mark on the course:
Koen King (Sr.): “Koen has been our #1 bag for three years. He has three individual wins and 13 top-10 appearances. He has led the team to three team wins and one regional championship,” Layman acknowledged.
Bryce Freeman (So.): “Bryce has shown great promise with five top-10 finishes and a 78 season stroke average as a freshman,” Layman highlighted as an underclassman to watch.
Mark Douglas (Sr.): “Mark is our unsung hero, very solid, reliable and disciplined. A quiet leader who leads by example.”
With a blend of experienced seniors and emerging talents, Tuttle’s golf team is poised to make waves in the upcoming season, driven by their determination to excel on the course and achieve their goals.
