Putnam City North’s Jayla Constant – Athlete Spotlight

Coming off a state championship, Putnam City North and head coach Logan Martin are poised for another big year thanks to dynamic players like Jayla Constant. Now a senior, Constant and her teammates are not resting on the success of last season.

“My favorite moment is when we won a state championship after a hard season from ups and down,” said Constant. “My strength is definitely getting crafty and getting to the bucket, I need to improve my mid-range game and elevate over people.”

The chemistry for the Lady Panthers is one of the reasons they are tough to beat. Constant said this group loves to spend time together away from the court.

“I love most about my teammates that they are really good people outside of the court lines and understanding,” Constant said.

The senior said her teammates are amazing. One stands out as the most vocal while others tend to keep the group laughing.

“My most vocal teammate is definitely Paige Williams, she keeps the team going and alive with her personality,” Constant said.

Being ranked nationally by ESPN was a great moment for Constant. She is taking that motivation and using it in her final year of prep basketball.

“I’m looking forward to being the best version of myself and just being a good teammate,” Constant said.

Family has served as a source of inspiration for Constant, whether she’s working out or just hanging out at home.

“My parents and siblings, they inspire me just because how much they put in me and my goals,” said Constant. “I enjoy hanging out with my friends and just chilling at home watching movies.”
