Tuttle’s Jett McCoy
Jett McCoy has built his final high school year around competition, gratitude and the standards that come with representing Tuttle High School.
The Tuttle senior is a varsity baseball player who handles several roles on the field. “My positions are mainly third base with a little outfield and first base,” McCoy said.
That versatility reflects the team-first mindset he says sports have strengthened over the years. “Sports has taught me that you can’t do it all alone, you have to have the right people along with you,” McCoy said.
McCoy’s athletic year already includes a major milestone. He called winning the football state championship his top accomplishment, a moment that reinforced both the expectations and pride that come with competing at Tuttle. “My best accomplishment is winning the state championship in football this past season,” he said.
That success has only added to his appreciation for the culture around him. McCoy said there is a strong sense of purpose in wearing Tuttle colors and helping continue the school’s tradition of winning. “We are a winning school and it’s cool to go out and help us prove that we are winners,” he said.
Away from the field, McCoy points to the people who helped shape his experience. He said his parents remain his biggest inspiration because “they are my biggest fans and want me to be great.”
He also credited Easton Green for helping him adjust when he arrived at school. “When I was new to the school, he was the main person to help me out and show me around,” McCoy said.
In the classroom, McCoy said his favorite teacher is Mrs. Overholt, whom he described as the most outgoing teacher he has had. He also carries simple advice that has become more meaningful during his senior season. “The best advice I was given is to enjoy it because it goes by really fast,” he said.
As his high school career moves closer to the finish, McCoy keeps his focus on the people who made the journey possible. “Thank you to my family and my coaches,” he said.
