Heritage Hall’s Blakely Lamb
Heritage Hall junior cheerleader Blakely Lamb has learned that the work fans never see often matters the most. Long before Friday night lights flicker on, she is already deep into preparation, investing time, energy and focus into a sport that has become a defining part of her high school experience.
Lamb serves on the cheer committee for the Chargers, a role that keeps her plugged into the planning and leadership side of the squad as well as the sidelines. She thrives in the team environment, where shared effort turns into sharp routines and game-night energy. “I love all the people and memories we make,” Lamb said. Those memories, built through long practices and long seasons, are what she says make the early mornings and late nights worth it.
The foundation for that commitment is modeled at home. Lamb points to her mom as the person who inspires her most, both in cheer and in life. “My mom…is always pushing me to be better and wants the best for me,” Lamb said. That steady encouragement has helped shape her mindset when practices are demanding or skills take time to master.
Her schedule stays busy even before the school year officially begins. While many students squeeze in final summer plans, Lamb is in the gym, refining skills and staying ready. “A lot,” she said of the preseason workload. “I do a ton of privates and work hard to improve.” That extra work has reinforced one of the biggest lessons she has taken from athletics: hard work pays off.
Away from the sidelines, Lamb enjoys a more relaxed pace with friends and in the classroom. English is her favorite subject, and she names Doctor Hamel as her favorite teacher from any grade. The balance of academics, athletics and social time gives her a full high school experience while still centering the sport she loves.
Lamb also looks within her own squad for day-to-day inspiration. She points to teammate Sloane as someone who has left a strong impression. “My teammate Sloane is who I look up to. She is a great leader,” Lamb said. Just as she watches Sloane’s example, younger teammates are starting to watch hers, as Lamb continues to grow as both a cheerleader and a leader for Heritage Hall.
