Edmond Memorial High School junior Ella Krisher understands that soccer is about more than just individual talent. For the Bulldogs varsity player, every match is a chance to represent something bigger than herself — her teammates, her school and her community.
Krisher, who plays attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder, said one of her proudest memories came early in her high school career when Edmond Memorial defeated city rival Edmond North in her freshman season. She said the emotion of that moment still stands out.
“A memory I am most proud of is when we won against our city rivals, Edmond North, my freshman year,” Krisher said. “Edlam is always a high-intensity and high-emotion game, but we stayed calm and had a great team win. Running to celebrate with my teammates after the big win is something I’ll never forget.”
That team-first perspective shapes the way Krisher views her role as a varsity athlete. She said wearing the Edmond Memorial name carries special meaning each time she steps onto the field.
“My favorite part about representing my high school as an athlete is the fact that it is for the school,” Krisher said. “You’re not playing for yourself or just your team, but for your whole school. I get to represent Edmond Memorial High School every time I step on the field to play, and I think that is very special.”
Off the field, Krisher draws inspiration from her mother, whom she described as the hardest-working and most compassionate person she knows. She said her mom’s example motivates her to keep pushing in sports and in life.
“My mom inspires me the most,” Krisher said. “She has five kids and has a job. She is the hardest-working and most compassionate person I know. I want to be just like my mom.”
Krisher also credited her parents for making sacrifices throughout her soccer journey, from long drives to practices to attending games in all kinds of weather. Their support, she said, has made a lasting impact.
“I’d like to thank my parents for their consistent support,” Krisher said. “They truly are my No. 1 fans, and I am so grateful to have them by my side on my soccer journey.”
