Heritage Hall’s Ellington Argo
Ellington Argo is entering Heritage Hall High School as a freshman with a clear sense of purpose, a competitive streak and a deep appreciation for the people who helped shape her path.
A soccer and track athlete, Argo said her background in both sports has helped define her as a competitor. “I play soccer and track. For my club, I’m primarily an outside back and can’t wait to see where I play for my high school. I also run mid-distance in track,” she said.
That versatility is part of what makes Argo an intriguing young player for the Chargers’ varsity soccer program. She already carries experience from club competition and says one of her proudest moments came when “my team” won a 3v3 title and became national champions.
Argo said athletics have shaped more than her skills on the field. “Sports have taught me about overcoming defeat, celebrating other’s accomplishments, diversity, becoming a better listener, being not just a teammate but also a friend,” she said.
Those lessons reflect the kind of culture she hopes to continue at Heritage Hall, where she sees a tradition of excellence. “Heritage Hall has had a long tradition of successful sports teams,” Argo said. “The last two years I played for middle school team was exciting and I look forward to taking that success into our high school season.”
Her motivation also comes from close to home. Argo said her older brother, Caysen, has been a major influence in her athletic development. Watching him win state titles in track and soccer gave her a goal of her own. She said his example has “motivated me heavily to get at least six rings … one more than him.”
Off the field, Argo said math is her favorite subject and praised Mrs. Williams as a teacher who has supported her in and out of class.
Argo also draws inspiration from soccer star Julie Ertz, whom she admires for “incredible toughness, discipline, and leadership.”
As she begins her high school career, Argo remains grounded in gratitude. “I want to thank Jesus, my amazing and supportive family, and my coaches for guiding me to love sports and giving me all of the opportunities that I have had today,” she said.
