The question for the Saints coming into the season is can they replace the starting five and compete for a state title as the defending champs. Head coach Brandon Weaver is looking forward to seeing what this group can accomplish as they prepare to carry on the tradition of winning established by the class before them.
“After graduating our starting five and our 6th man from last year’s state championship team, we have a group of young players that are hungry to carry on the tradition of our program,” said coach Weaver.
VYPE Top 100 selectee James Huffmyer (6-3, Jr.) is a two-sport standout for OCS and brings a strong skill set to the court. Known for his defense and ability to score, Huffmyer’s role will certainly increase this season and his numbers could skyrocket.
Hudson Struckel (6-0, So.) is a talented guard that suited up for the championship run last year as a freshman. Struckel can get to the rim and has a consistent outside shot. Also a solid defender, Struckel is a dynamic player who can elevate the offense to another level.
Also look for Preston McMinn (6-0, Sr.) who pound-for-pound brings a ton of qualities to the team. Known for being a hard worker, McMinn can score, rebound, play defense and get those hustle points. Rylan Jay (6-3, Sr.) is a forward who coach Weaver calls “the epitome of integrity.” Jay may lead by example but having him on the team means the Saints are always focused on sportsmanship and competing at a high level.
Other players to watch include Eli Winter (5-9, Jr.) at guard, Braden Weaver (5-11, Jr.) at guard, Evan Hale (6-3, Sr.) at forward, Hudson Onan (6-0, Jr.) at guard, Noah Springer (6-0, Sr.) at guard, Bryson Lynch (6-1, Jr.), Coleson Morris (6-1, Sr.) at forward, and Matthew Johnson (6-2, Sr.) at forward.
