2024 Deer Creek Antlers Football Preview – Presented by Deer Creek Booster Club

DEER CREEK ANTLERS
Coach: WADE STANDLEY
9-3

OFFENSE
The Antlers are coming off an outstanding season a year ago. They advanced to the Class 6A-2 semifinals before losing to the eventual state champion. As they enter the 2024 campaign, they are ready to make another run at a state championship. The Antlers bring back 16 starters off last year’s team, which will give them a good starting point. Grady Adamson (6-2, 215, Sr.) is back to lead the offense in his final season. He has thrown for 5,500 yards and 62 touchdowns during his high school career. Grady will look to add to both of those numbers this season. Joining him in the backfield will be running backs Junior Youmbi (5-10, 220, Sr.) and Lemar Davis (5-10, 170, Jr.). Anchoring the offensive line will be Jack McKinsey (5-11, 235, Sr.) who will work to keep the defense out of the backfield. Mason Smith (6-3, 205, Sr.) has over 100 catches and 20 touchdowns for his career, and he will be a prime target for Adamson to get the ball to. Also at receiver and looking to make an impact on the season will be Jalen Davis (5-10, 165, Jr.).

DEFENSE
The Antlers held their opponents to an average of 16 points last season. They bring back a number of contributors from last season and look to continue to be dominant on that side of the ball. Brady Brewer (5-10, 190, Sr.) is the returning leading tackler from last year with 105 total tackles. He will see time at both linebacker and safety, but wherever he is, expect him to make a big impact on the game. Joining him at linebacker will be Ryan Hubble (5-10, 175, Jr.), who had 59 tackles and six sacks a year ago. Patrolling the secondary will be a few different playmakers, including Jaydon Bradshaw (5-10, 162, Sr.) at corner, Sam Amanis (6-2, 180, Sr.) at safety, and Luke Bray (5-10, 175, Jr.) also at safety. Last season, this trio combined for 123 tackles and five interceptions, and they look to play a big role this season. Doing the hard work up front will be Scout Hanna (6-3, 230, Sr.) on the defensive line. He had 30 tackles last year and is expected to be a disruptor on the line. Assistant coaches for Deer Creek this season are Colin Roberts, Steve Neal, Jake Hayes, Louis Cottone, Scott MacDonald, Jack Hankins, Mikey Thomas, Russ Pickett, Noah Cornell, Rod Wolfard, Bentley Bross, and Kent Hixson.
