2024 Edmond Santa Fe Wolves Football Preview – Presented by Andrew Ruiz – Shelter Insurance

EDMOND SANTA FE WOLVES

Coach: KYLE WHITE

7-4

OFFENSE

You can tell how excited a coach is by how many starters he has returning to the lineup. Coach Kyle White believes this team has the opportunity to improve on last years effort and make this a great season for the Wolves Nation. “We are excited about this season. SF returns 15 starters from last season. We have a good mix of young and old players with experience. Players and coaches have had a good off season and we are looking forward to another football season at The Fe,” said White. The 11-personnel offense will feature running back Demarius Robinson (5-9, 175, Sr.) who is a physical, downhill runner with quick feet. Jae’Lin Battle (6-3, 260, Jr.) is a big, strong player who starts on both sides of the ball. Battle started as a freshman at tight end where he is expected to help this offense. Trey Whalen (5-10, 170, Sr.) can stretch a defense forcing opponents to respect the deep ball passing game. The guys charged with protecting the QB are Jaylen Covington (6-4, 250, Sr.) and Jaden Noble (6-1, 250, Sr.). They will anchor the offensive line. Abe Shoemaker (6-2, 240, Sr.) is another tight end for the Wolves who can help in the run game as that extra blocker. Look for this offense to run the ball, setting up their passing game both vertically and horizontally.

DEFENSE

Battle will start up front for the Wolves in their 4-man front. Expect to see multiple formations from Santa Fe as they look to keep the offense off-balance while attacking from different angles. Tommy Hand (6-0, 230, Sr.) is a name everyone will hear a lot this season. Hand gets the start at linebacker where his physical play and relentless pursuit is on display. Joining Battle on the line is Jacob Smith (6-2, 270, Sr.). Smith has the strength and technique to be a menace this season. His quickness off the snap will be tough for opposing offensive linemen. The secondary looks strong with guys like Rahnel Slaughter (5-10, 180, Sr.) and Devin Howard (5-9, 165, Sr.) returning to the lineup. Add Franklin Sherron (5-11, 175, Jr.) and you have the makings of what could be one of the best secondary squads in the class. The coaching staff consists of Chris Rose, Todd Bonnewell, Erik Holt, Demontre Hurst, Taurean Smith, Caden MacNeill, Mason Wilkerson, Chris Paddlety, Wes Crosson, and Austin Maly.
