Few programs in Class 2A enter the season with the combination of experience and expectations that surround Cashion football. The Wildcats have a veteran group that has already tasted success, and they believe the pieces are in place for another deep run. With proven playmakers on both sides of the ball and a senior class that has played a lot of meaningful snaps, Cashion is aiming not just to compete, but to set the standard every week.
Cashion’s offense enters the new year with the pieces in place to remain one of Class 2A’s most difficult units to defend. The Wildcats operate from a multiple spread look that emphasizes tempo, balance, and getting playmakers the football in space, allowing them to stress defenses both vertically and horizontally. At the controls is senior quarterback Kellen Smith (6-2, 190), an experienced signal caller who has produced more than 4,000 passing yards and 47 touchdowns over the past two seasons while efficiently distributing the ball. On the perimeter, senior receiver Grayson Davis (6-1, 180) and fellow senior playmaker Hank Brown (6-0, 175) give Cashion explosive options, with Davis already posting back-to-back standout seasons and Brown providing big-play ability. Up front, seniors Asher Gable (6-3, 250), Slade Williams (6-2, 235), and Kyler Wear (6-1, 240) bring experience and physicality in the trenches, giving the Wildcats a sturdy base for both the passing game and a physical ground attack.
Defensively, Cashion builds its identity on discipline, speed, and physical play within an aggressive multiple-front structure. The Wildcats prioritize stopping the run, then look to create negative plays through pressure and relentless pursuit, trusting their experienced linebackers and secondary to clean up. Davis (6-1, 180) is one of Oklahoma’s premier two-way athletes and a proven tackler, while Smith (6-2, 190) adds leadership and playmaking ability in the secondary. Linebackers Gavin Layton (6-0, 205), Houston Jerry (5-11, 200), and Williams (6-2, 235) help set the tone at the second level, combining physicality with range. With so many seniors who have logged significant snaps, Cashion’s defense expects to be fast, fundamentally sound, and capable of complementing the offense in another championship-caliber season.
