EDMOND MEMORIAL BULLDOGS

Coach: JUSTIN MEREDITH

3-7

OFFENSE

Coach Justin Meredith returns to guide the Bulldogs into the second half of the Meredith era at Memorial. With staff intact, the Bulldogs are working hard to get things on track and put more Ws in the win column. “On offense and defense, we are returning a lot of starters and guys who have seen a significant amount of playing time last year, which will help us navigate through a tough schedule. We are set to be a lot stronger and bigger up front on both sides of the ball, that will allow us to run the ball and stop the run,” said Meredith. Quarterback David McComb (6-5, 210, Sr.) threw for 3,009 yards and 29 TDs last season. McComb is committed to Kansas University and is considered one of the top QBs coming out of Oklahoma this season. One target McComb will find downfield is Billy McDown (6-2, 185, Sr.), a big receiver who caught 28 passes for 479 yards and three scores last year. Tight end Asher Morris (6-5, 190, Jr.) can get involved in the passing game and help the team in the run game with running back Riley Baptise (5-9, 175, Sr.). Baptise carried the ball 51 times for 247 yards a year ago. The offensive line features Parker Howell (6-3, 270, Sr.) who leads an experienced group up front. Look for the Bulldogs to establish the run and let McComb find his targets for big gains.

DEFENSE

The Bulldog defense will focus on stopping the run and force teams to beat them with the pass. The physical play of Leland Smith (6-2, 240, Sr.) can spark the defense and set the tone for the entire game. Smith could see time at tight end on offense. Colton McComb (6-3, 210, So.) will be used all over the field for the Bulldogs this season. McComb has the speed and size to play multiple positions on both sides of the ball. Gage Massey (5-9, 170, Jr.) starts at free safety giving the Bulldogs a player who can spot the ball and make plays in the secondary. Massey will play some wide receiver for the offense. Deontre Bennett (5-9, 170, Jr.) start at corner giving the secondary someone who can keep up with the speedy receivers in 6A. Nick Booker (6-0, 180, Jr.) is an old school linebacker who loves contact. The same can be said for Tripp Roberts (6-2, 245, Jr.) on the defensive line. Expect the Bulldogs to play a physical brand of football this season. Also look for Issac Woodard to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Woodard brings athleticism to both sides of the ball. Other players to watch include Brock Dozier and Madden Willis. The coaching staff includes Kendrick Warren (Co-DC/DB), Josh Allen (OC, QB), Kyle McComb (Co-DC/DL), Ryan McCaul (OL), Seth Mead (OL), Mwkai Williams (RB), Emilio Davison (H/Y), Thomas Smith (WR), Dustin Null (DL), Ryan Gregg (LB), Gabe Simpson (DB), and Larry Brown (S&C).
