GUTHRIE BLUEJAYS
Coach: KELLY BEEBY
8-3

Guthrie comes off an 8-3 campaign and faces a rugged non-district slate in 2026 that head coach Kelly Beeby believes will prepare the Bluejays for the grind of district play. With only a handful of returning starters, new contributors will have to grow up quickly, and staying healthy will be critical for another playoff run.
Offensively, Guthrie returns three starters and will run a multiple 11-personnel attack built on establishing the run to set up the passing game. Senior quarterback Daelon Rice (6-4, 190) is the centerpiece after throwing for 1,727 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushing for 412 yards and seven more scores in 2025, giving the Bluejays a true dual-threat. He will be supported by senior tailback Dereon Whitehorn (5-11, 180), who produced 400 offensive yards and five touchdowns in limited duty, senior receiver Skylor Scamman (6-2, 185), senior tailback and wide receiver Codie Carlock (6-1, 180), senior tackle Sir William Morgan (6-3, 285) and sophomore skill athlete Demetrious Thomas (5-8, 160).
Defensively, Guthrie brings back six starters with a mandate to control the box and affect opposing quarterbacks. Scamman is a VYPE Top 100 nominee and defensive leader after posting 45 solo tackles, 16 assists, three fumble recoveries, one interception, and four pass breakups, while Whitehorn added 26 solo tackles, five assists, two interceptions, and six pass breakups at corner. Senior linebacker Rowan McHone (5-11, 195) totaled 28 solo and 42 assisted tackles along with splash plays; senior tackle Qorrie Carlock (6-0, 275) was disruptive with 11 tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hurries, and junior end and outside linebacker Gabe Jackson (6-1, 195) contributed four sacks, four tackles for loss, and 24 quarterback hurries.
