VYPE: What is your favorite part about track and cross country?
Tori Greenwald: Getting to push myself alongside other people who are doing the same.
VYPE: What has running taught you?
TG: The importance of dedication and endurance to achieve my goals. God has taught me through running that the most rewarding things in life are not the easiest things, they take hard work and patience.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about running?
TG: Running is so good for the body, mind, and soul. I love that running is all about pushing yourself to the limit to see what you are capable of.
VYPE: What teammate leaves the biggest impression?
TG: Patel has been my running buddy since last year. During our runs, we talk about anything and everything and have had some really vulnerable conversations. She pushes me to be a better runner.
VYPE: How did you discover cross country?
TG: Sophomore year I was going to be new to the school and I wanted to make friends. I was honestly terrible at running and I had no idea what I was doing, but I quickly fell in love with the sport.
VYPE: Is there anyone you would like to thank?
TG: Thank you, Coach Lan Downing. I was terrified to come to a new school and be in a sport for the first time. She made me feel so welcome and comfortable. She has encouraged me and helped me believe in myself.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your school?
TG: Wearing our warm-ups, which say “Jesus won” across the front. I love that by being in my sport, I also get the opportunity to spread the love of Christ to people who need Him.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
TG: Run your own race. God has a special “race” set out for each one of us, and the best thing we can do is run that race authentically.
VYPE: Do you have any hobbies?TG: I love baking and I love eating even more. It’s a good thing I run a lot because I love to eat!
