VYPE: Maddy, tell us who is the most vocal teammate, who keeps everyone laughing and what do you love most about this group?
Maddy Kirk: The teammate that is most vocal and keeps me laughing is Quashia. She is so funny and can always light up anyone’s day. The thing I love most about my team at Memorial is that everyone is close, and everyone gets along.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
MK: My parents inspire me because they show me what it’s like to work hard every single day.
VYPE: What is your strength on the court and what have you worked on the most to improve?
MK: I think a strength I have is to stay composed throughout the entire game and to not get anxious in high pressure situations. Something I’m working on is to be consistent from all three levels of shooting- layups, midrange, and threes.
VYPE: What’s been the biggest surprise of your career thus far?
MK: I think the biggest surprise of my career was being given the opportunity to play at the next level.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?
MK: My favorite subject is history or science. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Futrell as my 9th grade history teacher.
VYPE: Tell us your favorite moment playing for Memorial.
MK: I would say my favorite moment from any season was becoming Edmond City Champs last year for the first time in a long time.
VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at EMHS?
MK: I also play volleyball, and I am involved in Key Club for Memorial.
VYPE: How do you like spending your free time?
MK: I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. I also really love to travel.
VYPE: What are you looking forward to the most this season?
MK: I am looking forward to seeing how my team grows throughout the season after losing most of the starters.
