Q&A with Edmond Memorial’s Payton Johnson

VYPE: What position do you play and what grade are you in this year? 

Payton Johnson: I play outfield and pitcher. I am a freshman.

VYPE: What are your expectations for the season?

PJ: My expectations for this season are to keep improving as a player and help my team grow stronger together.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Memorial?

PJ: I love how our team at Memorial feels like a family. Everyone supports each other, on and off the field, and we push each other to get better.

VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.

PJ: My parents inspire me the most because they always support me no matter what. They work hard, never give up, and always encourage me to chase my goals.

VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal, and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?

PJ: Rylee is the most vocal, and Kacee always keeps everyone laughing.

VYPE: Favorite subject in school and favorite teacher from any grade?

PJ: My favorite subject in school is math, and my favorite teacher is Mr. Howard.

VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school?

PJ: The girls’ basketball team!

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

PJ: In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy practicing softball and any outdoor activity. 

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?

PJ: I want to go to college and play college softball.
