OUTLOOK
The Lady Eagles are back and ready for action. Under the leadership of coach Mariah White, the team is poised for a great season.
“We will be a solid group, returning five starters from last season and all of our core players. We still have a young group that will be more experienced this season. We will be competitive in 5A hoping to make another run at State after falling short to El Reno in the State Tournament last season,” said coach White.
Shelby Thornton (6-2, Sr.) is a forward/center and a player who can get hot and dominate a game. Thornton is a North Texas University commit. Thornton will give the Lady Eagles a player who can clean up the boards and score in the paint. Paris Baker (5-9, Fr.) is a young wing who can finish in traffic. Baker has strong hands and can score around the rim.
Saniya Bonds (6-0, So.) doesn’t shy from the physical game and can score around the rim. Bonds plays with a high-motor and is a great compliment to Thornton in the paint. Together they can take over a game. Kamiyah Morgan (5-6, So.) is a great catch-and-shoot scorer and can make plays off the dribble.
Jaciah McCalister (Fr.) is an aggressive point guard who plays tough defense. McCalister is great in transition and brings serious speed to the court. Also look for Courtnie McCarroll (Jr.) who is a lefty at guard and a player who can finish in traffic.
Other players to watch include Mackenzi Smithers, Arianna Brison, Jenericka Thompson, Keiley Mahseet, Malia Purifoy, and Torie Moore.
