2026 Choctaw Yellowjackets – Baseball Preview

Choctaw Yellowjacket Baseball

Choctaw High School’s varsity baseball program enters the new season with heightened expectations after back-to-back Class 6A state tournament appearances under head coach Shane Hawk. With several key players returning, the Yellowjackets aim to push deeper into the postseason and build on what has quickly become one of the area’s most consistent large-school programs.

“The team is coming off back-to-back state tournament appearances in Class 6A,” Hawk said. “Return several players from the state tournament team and look to continue to build off the successes.” That core includes a blend of seasoned upperclassmen and promising newcomers who give Choctaw balance across the lineup and on the mound.

Headlining the roster is senior standout Josiah Kemp, who joined Choctaw after three years at Westmoore, where he helped capture a state title in 2024. The Oklahoma commit brings big-time upside and could draw Gatorade Player of the Year consideration while attracting regular attention from Major League Baseball scouts throughout the spring. Kemp is considered one of the most athletic players in his class and is expected to be a centerpiece of the Yellowjackets’ offense and pitching staff.

Choctaw will also lean on freshman utility player Cash Hollingsworth, who has the versatility to move all over the field. Coaches believe he has the potential for a breakout debut season as he adjusts to the demands of 6A competition, citing his ability to handle the bat and play strong defense at multiple spots.

Another anchor is junior shortstop and Barton Community College commit Broedy Taron, a three-year starter who also serves as a district starter on the mound. His dual role provides stability in the infield and important innings in the rotation as Choctaw navigates a deep schedule and district play.

Junior Titus Hawk adds power in the middle of the order after a strong sophomore campaign and brings valuable postseason experience as a starter on the 2023 and 2024 state tournament teams. A rare three-sport varsity athlete at a large-class school, Hawk also stars in football and basketball but has managed the workload while remaining a key contributor on the diamond.

With proven talent, high-end prospects and emerging underclassmen, Choctaw’s roster is built to contend again in Class 6A. If the Yellowjackets can translate their returning experience into late-season momentum, another trip to the state tournament — and perhaps more — appears well within reach.
