Christian Heritage Academy’s varsity volleyball program enters the new season with momentum and clear leadership after finishing 22-16 in 2025 under head coach Heather Benedix, now in her sixth year at the helm. The Crusaders will lean on a core of experienced seniors while integrating a promising group of younger players expected to grow into larger roles as the year progresses.
“We are excited for a great new season! We have some veteran seniors that we will look to as our leaders this year. Tryina and Jadyn are two of our seniors that we look to build around offensively. They will lead our younger hitters well as they learn how to fulfill their new roles. We have a lot of room for growth as we add the younger girls. This team works hard and is very coachable. They love their teammates so well and we are looking forward to a great season ahead of us,” Benedix said.
One of those senior anchors is outside hitter Jadyn Roberts, who brings a strong mix of production and intangibles. Roberts hit .340 last season, finishing with 114 kills and 62 blocks, and will again be a focal point of the attack. “Jadyn Roberts is one of our leaders on the team. She has a great court presence due to her power and competitiveness but also her love for her team. Last season she hit 340 with 114 kills, adding 62 blocks. We will look to her to score points for us and lead us well this season,” Benedix said.
Fellow senior Tryina Newsom gives Christian Heritage another dynamic weapon at the net. Newsom hit .320 with 210 kills in 2025, and her athleticism is expected to remain a major factor for the Crusaders on both sides of the ball. “Tryina Newsom is an incredible athlete that can jump out of the gym. She is the hardest worker in the gym, not only in volleyball, but also in track and really anything she is a part of. Last season, she hit 320 with 210 kills. We will look to her athleticism to help us compete to the best of our abilities,” Benedix said.
In the backcourt, four-year varsity starter Audrina Johnston provides stability and leadership. “Audrina Johnston is a four-year varsity starter. She came in strong as a freshman and has continued to be a valuable piece of our team. She is selfless and our biggest encourager. She is always everyone’s biggest cheerleader and puts the team before self,” Benedix said. With that blend of experienced seniors, emerging underclassmen and a coachable, close-knit roster, Christian Heritage Academy expects to remain competitive and continue building on last season’s success.
