OUTLOOK
Carl Albert boys basketball continues its tradition of excellence with a roster full of athletic playmakers strong leadership and the competitive toughness that defines the program. Coach Jay Price once again fields a team capable of big things.
“We have several returning players from last year. I feel like we will have a good mix of experienced players along with some good younger players that will provide a good mix. We hope to improve enough throughout the season to be in the State tournament and have a chance at a championship,” coach Price said.
The Titans thrive in transition. Brandon Rogers (6-2, Sr.) brings a ton of varsity experience to the court and is a vital part of the program. Coach Price said, “He has grown as a player over the years and has become someone that his teammates look up to. He is a solid defender, good scorer and overall, well rounded player.”
Rogers is joined in the backcourt by Jordan Hawkins (6-2, Sr.) and Austin Johnson (6-4, Jr.). Like many of his peers, Hawkins plays multiple sports and is one of the leaders of the team. Also look for Lebron Royal (6-2, Sr.) at forward, giving the Titans another player who doesn’t mind the physical aspects of playing in the paint.
This group enters the season with the look of a contender. If they continue to defend at a high level and share the ball with the rhythm and confidence, they showed during summer play they will once again find themselves in the thick of the postseason race.
Other players to watch include Delijah Matthews (6-1, Jr.), Darion Thomas (6-1, Jr.), Carter Hensley (5-8, So.), Catch Manley (6-0, So.), Gibson Johnson (6-2, Fr.), Jax Wilkerson (6-8, Fr.), Bud Hill (6-1, Fr.), and Wyatt Cordray (6-4, Fr.).
