Carl Albert boys wrestling enters the new season with momentum and belief after a 5th-place finish at the Class 5A state tournament, powered by seven returning state qualifiers and three state placers. With so much experience back in the room, there is a strong sense that the Titans can push even higher on the podium this winter. Head coach Curt Hodges says there is ‘quite a bit of excitement’ around the group as they look forward to seeing what they can accomplish together.
Leading the way is Cash Wiley, a two-time state placer who finished 3rd as a freshman and 2nd as a sophomore and is known for following ‘Rule #1’ by being in the wrestling room any time the doors are open. Kingston Sikes is coming off a remarkable freshman campaign, posting 40-plus wins against just two losses on his way to a 5A state runner-up finish and Freestyle All-American honors at Fargo despite limited freestyle experience. Maddux Underhill, a state placer as a freshman at 157 pounds, brings toughness, a relentless motor, and a burning desire to win every time he steps on the mat.
Brayden Mixay, a senior three-time state qualifier and quiet leader who ‘never complains, never misses,’ sets the tone with his consistency and commitment as one of the team captains.
