Choctaw rolls into 2026 off a state finalist run and with what head coach Jake Corbin calls the 10th “Gold Standard” team in program history, a group he believes will be the strongest and fastest Yellowjacket squad yet. Corbin says this team is determined to keep improving and write its own chapter in the Gold Standard history books while facing an extremely challenging schedule. With seven offensive starters and eight defensive starters returning, Choctaw expects to remain firmly in the 6AII title picture.
Offensively, the Yellowjackets operate out of a spread attack that specializes in generating explosive plays. Senior tight end Titus Hawk (6-7, 235) is the headliner and a Top 100 nominee who is described as the top recruit in Oklahoma and the biggest recruit to ever come out of Choctaw, a three-year starter, team captain and relentless worker who could be a pro in three sports. Senior athlete Israel Hammons (6-4, 245) gives Choctaw a versatile weapon who can line up in multiple spots, junior quarterback Cal Whitnah (5-11, 205) returns to run the offense, and senior offensive lineman Quaid Smith (6-5, 295) anchors the front. Junior running back Kentrell Gaddis (6-0, 180) provides a dynamic option in the backfield, while sophomore wide receiver Akoree Walker (6-4, 185) adds length and explosiveness on the perimeter as the next in a long line of Division I-caliber Choctaw playmakers. With that mix of size, speed and experience, the Yellowjackets’ spread game is built to stress defenses vertically and horizontally every snap.
Defensively, Choctaw bases out of a 3-4 that prides itself on being multiple enough to match up with any offense. Senior defensive linemen Asa Bartlow (5-11, 250) and Jayce Watson (6-0, 265) provide power and disruption up front, while junior athlete Kaidis Vick (6-1, 235) gives the defense a versatile piece who can move around the formation. Senior linebackers Jeremiah Miles (6-0, 210) and Landen Dockery (6-0, 190) bring physicality and experience in the middle of the defense. Walker (6-3, 185) also contributes on the back end at defensive back, and the staff calls him a tall, explosive athlete who will be the next up in Choctaw’s long line of D1 stars, capable of impacting the game at both corner and receiver. With a defense that can morph to opponents and a roster loaded with size and high-end athleticism on both sides of the ball, the Yellowjackets expect to make another serious run at hardware in 2026.
