Choctaw’s Titus Hawk – Football Spotlight – Presented by Ben Sexton, Shelter Insurance

Choctaw’s Titus Hawk

When Titus Hawk was seven years old, he fell in love with football. He thought it was pretty amazing to be in a sport where he got to hit people without getting in trouble. He is now a junior at Choctaw High School who still enjoys the hard hits. Blocking people and catching touchdowns are what excite Titus the most during a game.

The relationships formed within a team are another important aspect of football. His coaches and teammates make being a Choctaw Yellowjacket special. “My favorite part about being on a team is being able to have about 75 brothers that you get to have beside you,” he says.

The bonds between teammates go beyond friendship. They become mentors, role models and support systems. A teammate Titus looks up to is Dajon Green. “He has made the biggest impression on me because he holds me accountable while still being like a brother to me.”

Titus values these relationships as he navigates high school, growing as an athlete and as a student. He has learned what it means to be a leader on and off the field. “If you want people to actually listen to you, you have to lead by example not just by words!” says Titus.

Stepping under the lights on Friday nights is Titus’s chance to perform for all those who support him and his team. “I am passionate about my sport for my school and community. Knowing that I get to play with those great people in my corner helps tremendously.”

His biggest inspiration is his mom. “My mom inspires me because she always helps me with everything I do and is always right!!” he exclaimed.

The success Titus has in athletics did not happen alone. He has many supporters who have helped him along the way. “I want to thank my family, friends and coaches who have always believed in and tried to bring out the best in me,” he said.

Titus is proud to be a multi-sport athlete at CHS. He also plays baseball and basketball. He says, just like football, CHS has great baseball and basketball programs.

His future plans include playing both baseball and football in college. Titus has not chosen a major yet. In the meantime, he will continue to play and grow as an athlete throughout his remaining high school career.
