When Gracie Levonitis started playing golf, she was only six years old. Now a senior at Christian Heritage School, Gracie is looking forward to her final year of prep competition.
“I’m looking forward to playing in state this season. I’m hoping to lower my scores and be more competitive and consistent throughout this year,” said Gracie.
During the offseason, Gracie has stayed busy by playing in tournaments and getting creative with her training.
“I try to compete in tournaments both through the school and outside of school in the offseason. This year I had the privilege of playing in the Under Armour Oklahoma City League, which was super fun, beneficial, and well-run, to stay active,” Gracie said. “In the winter months when there is bad weather, I try to go hit in simulators to stay sharp.”
Gracie hopes the extra work will pay off this season.
“A big strength of my game is my distance I get on my driver. I was able to really improve my driver’s consistency and controllability over the off-season to prepare for this coming season,” she said.
As a team, Christian Heritage has several players looking to make big moves this year. Gracie said she teammates are supportive and fun to be around.
“The team has always been very supportive of my game, and it was really fun playing on a team for the first time for the camaraderie. It’s always fun and encouraging to see teammates playing out on the course at the same time as me.”
Like most of her peers, Gracie has her favorites. From a favorite course to a favorite club, this golfer knows what she likes.
“ ”“My favorite course to play in tournaments is either Westwood or Lake Hefner. I have played both courses many times throughout my golf career, and I usually play pretty well at those courses. My favorite golf club to use is my driver, the Callaway AI Smoke,” said Gracie.
Being a student-athlete at CHS is special for many reasons according to the senior.
“Being a student-athlete at Christian Heritage is special to me because I get the opportunity to use the talent that God blessed me with to honor and glorify Him. He is at the center of Christian Heritage Athletics, and we are encouraged to put Christ at the forefront of whatever we do and compete for an audience of One,” said Gracie.
The senior said she finds inspiration in her faith and her family.
“On the course, my older brother, Brooksie, inspires me. He is an incredible golfer, and he was the reason I started playing golf. He inspires me to continue growing and improving my game. My mom and dad inspire me off of the course. They encourage me to continually grow my game and my faith. They both push me to do my best and play for the glory of God,” said Gracie.
Her plans for life after high school include college and more golf.
“After high school, I plan to attend college to major in Finance and minor in Pre-Law. I also plan to play golf in college,” said Gracie.
