Caedmon Wells began playing football on a whim and developed a love for the game. Football is now his favorite sport, but his first love was soccer. He says he will always be a soccer player at heart, who loves putting the ball in the back of the net.
Caedmon is a senior at Christian Heritage Academy. “There’s just something about the pain and grit of football that gives you an attachment to the team and the players. I’ve never been tackled in soccer, crushed under five guys, or even sent to the hospital mid-game like I have in football. Doing harder things and learning to enjoy those things is worth it and is more fulfilling than picking the easy way,” he says.
He is thankful to his football coaches, coach Davis and coach Franks. “I can’t think of anyone who has better balanced intensity with dedication and kindness in all my time as an athlete. If there’s anyone who deserves a winning team more, it’s them. Winning and being good is always fun, but it’s a rare gift to have a coaching staff be so invested in shaping their players into young men,” says Caedmon.
Noah Sherer is the teammate who left the biggest impression. “He didn’t start his senior year, but he worked harder than most. He was a great friend, drove me to practice, and took me out to eat countless times. I have never been so sick of Chinese food in my life. I think I spent about five hundred bucks on Panda Express over my freshmen and sophomore years with his help!” exclaimed Caedmon.
With so many great teachers at CHS, choosing one favorite is hard. Mr. Ferguson who teaches American and Modern History stands out. “I do not believe there is a person alive that could teach high schoolers the unbiased, factual truth of America’s heritage and corrosion as well as he does,” praises Caedmon.
Caedmon looks up to different people for varied reasons. “I want to work as hard as Pete Maravich, be as smart as my father, as emotionally intelligent as my cousin, and as wise as my grandfather,” he says.
