VYPE: What has your sport taught that you use in your daily life?
Isabelle Harper: My sport has taught me to be disciplined which carries heavily into my daily life, just with things like reading my Bible and getting my work done.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
IH: The close relationships gained with people I would otherwise never get to talk to.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
IH: My biggest inspiration is my momma. She is strong and patient. But most of all she leans on the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. Thank you to my momma for being my biggest fan and my biggest supporter.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
IH: My setter on varsity from my freshman and sophomore years, Natalie French, has left a huge impact on me. She was solid and strong. She led us on and off the court. Nat pushes everyone she meets towards Christ.
VYPE: Here is your chance to thank anyone you wish.
IH: My teammates and coaches pushed me to become a better volleyball player and a better Christian. Thank you to my close friends, HJ, Avery Carly, Reese, Laynie, and Ashlynne who have helped me stay accountable and thank you to coach Benedix for training me not only for volleyball but also for life.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
IH: Showing others how we are different. As Christians, we should be set apart. It’s my goal to reflect Christ no matter where I go, on or off the court.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory of playing?
IH: My favorite memory was beating Bethany in our home gym when they were undefeated. It was such an intense game, but we played our best game ever that night. We went into it thinking we had to hope to win and came out of it champions.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
IH: Fix your eyes on Christ even when you feel like you’re drowning. Trust that He will be there for you and that He will pull you out of those waters.
VYPE: Are you in other activities?
IH: I am in National Honor Society, Politico, Mu Alpha Theta, Least of These, and Leaders in Training. I am on the teen board for a local non-profit organization called In the Middle of a Miracle. They are dedicated to helping children battling pediatric cancer in Oklahoma with a focus on teens.
