Christian Heritage’s Owen Holshouser-Athlete Spotlight- Presented by Kendall’s Restaurant and Orthodontic Specialists of Oklahoma

Christian Heritage sophomore Owen Holshouser is quickly establishing himself as a dynamic presence on the football field, bringing both athletic skill and a strong sense of purpose to his role as a varsity slot receiver.

Holshouser credits much of his drive to his older brother, Gabe, who has played a pivotal role in shaping his mindset. “He has always pushed me to do hard things and to keep pursuing football,” Holshouser said.

Entering his sophomore year, Holshouser balances academics and athletics with enthusiasm and focus. History stands out as his favorite subject, and he points to Mr. Boggs as his favorite teacher. Off the field, he enjoys spending time with family, his girlfriend and his brothers, often playing catch or disc golfing when time allows.

On the field, Holshouser has already experienced memorable moments. His favorite came on a 73-yard touchdown, a play that showcased both his speed and playmaking ability.

However, not all memories are lighthearted. He recalls a game that was stopped for over an hour after a severe hit sent a player to the hospital, underscoring the intensity of the sport.

As a slot receiver, Holshouser embraces the complexity of his position. “I am used for lots of trick plays and long outside release plays,” he said. “That’s probably the most difficult part, just being ready for anything.”

Despite the challenges, Holshouser thrives in the team environment. He values the relationships he has built and the shared faith among his teammates. “They are extremely easy to connect with, and they all are Christ-loving people,” he said. “I enjoy being able to hang out with my teammates and also evangelize to other teammates and opposing players.”

Preparation is key to his performance. His pregame routine includes staying hydrated, listening to music and working closely with his quarterback to fine-tune timing and movement. He also prioritizes stretching and connecting with teammates before kickoff.

Holshouser said teammate Bennett Orr has left a lasting impression on him. “He has always been open to me and has taught me to stay tough and strong for my team,” he said.

Beyond athletics, Holshouser remains active in his community. He works at a local restaurant, Kendall’s, in his hometown of Noble and spends time mowing neighbors’ lawns and helping others when he can.

Through football, Holshouser has learned valuable life lessons. “Athletics has taught me to work hard under stressful situations and to stay determined no matter the circumstances,” he said.

With a strong support system, a clear sense of purpose and a growing list of accomplishments, Holshouser is poised to make an even greater impact in the seasons ahead.
