OUTLOOK

Del City girls basketball has been building quietly, and this season the expectations around the program are beginning to rise. Head coach Mariah White has a core of returners who already understand what it takes to compete with the best, and the pieces are in place for the Lady Eagles to be a factor in a tough district race.

On the perimeter, sophomore guard Paris Baker (5-11) is a name that is starting to draw attention. She brings length, ball handling and finishing ability, averaging eight points and seven rebounds along with two steals per game as a freshman. She can initiate the offense, attack gaps and finish at the rim, and her size allows her to guard multiple positions on the defensive end. With an offseason dedicated to adding strength and refining her shot, Baker looks ready to elevate her game to another level.

Junior forward Saniya Bonds (5-10) anchors the frontcourt after posting seven points and seven rebounds a night while shooting an efficient percentage from two point range. She carves out space in the paint, finishes through contact and controls the glass on both ends. Her presence gives Del City a reliable interior option to balance the perimeter attack.

Junior shooting guard Kamyiah Morgan (5-8) brings instant offense. She averaged twelve points per game and knocked down nearly one out of every three attempts from beyond the arc, stretching defenses and creating driving lanes for her teammates. Morgan can also score in the midrange and finish at the basket, making her a classic three level threat who must be accounted for at all times.

The backcourt depth continues with point guards Jaciah McCalister (5-5) and Sacha Hunt (5-3). McCalister is a quick, aggressive guard who averaged seven points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals per contest, constantly applying pressure on both ends of the floor. Hunt adds another capable ball handler who can score, distribute and space the floor with her shooting touch. Together they give White the flexibility to play small and fast, to press and to push the tempo after every defensive stop.
