A two-sport student-athlete at Del City High School, Jaciah McCalister is a quick guard who can get to the rim, but on the defensive end of the court, she’s a tenacious defender. McCalister said she continues to work on her game to improve and help her team win.
“My strength in my game has to be getting to the paint and getting the layup or extra pass, and what I’m working on to improve is my jump shoot,” McCalister said.
This season promises to be one of her best on record.
“What I’m looking forward this season is becoming district champs and going on to win state,” said McCalister. “What I love most about my team would probably be our chemistry or how we got each other’s back no matter what”
McCalister said she finds inspiration in her mother.
“My mom inspired me the most, no matter what she goes through she finds a way to be there for me so that really inspires me to do right,” McCalister said.
Also a volleyball players and a member of National Honor Society, McCalister said she enjoys spending time with her nephew or sleeping when she’s not on the court or working on her favorite subject in school which is math. Her favorite teacher was Ms. Olds from 7th grade.
As for her teammates, McCalister said they know how to work hard and have fun.
“The most vocal teammate has to be Sacha Hunt and the teammate that keeps everyone laughing has to be Addi Uzzi.”
