Jacquelyn Brown stands out athletically and academically. She is a senior basketball player and high jumper who contributes to Carl Albert High School’s culture of champions. While most recognized on the basketball court, Jacquelyn is also an outstanding student with a 4.0 GPA.
Becoming a leader was learned and earned on the court. Basketball taught her that when things don’t turn out as wanted, she must find another way to benefit her team.
“I love that I am able to work together with my teammates to accomplish our goal of collecting one win at a time,” said Jacquelyn.
A’ja Wilson is an athlete she admires.
“Wilson is an aggressive ball player on the court, but off the court, she has a really goofy and fun personality. That’s basically how I am as a player,” Jacquelyn says.
Jacquelyn’s mom is a source of inspiration on and off the court.
“She was also a multi-sport athlete and competed at the collegiate level. She always pushes me to be the best version of myself, whether it’s basketball, high jump, school, or even how to be a better person and role model,” she says.
There are multiple people who have helped Jacquelyn get to where she is today.
“My first shoutout goes to God for giving me the opportunity and skills to play the sports I love so much. Without Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today at all. My second shoutout goes to my parents and all my family who support me and push me to become a better player. I love you all so much,” she says.
The best memories happen with family. Jacquelyn is privileged to play basketball with her younger sister Jakary and to have her other sister Jakayla with them as a manager.
Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Gennifer Sandersfeld from junior English.
“She helped me develop better essays and become a better student. She’s also a really funny teacher who balances being a strict, but fun teacher very nicely,” she said.
Jacquelyn is the president of Top Teens of America and is involved in leadership, student council and community service.
