Luther’s Alayna Wiles
Setting goals for yourself as a student-athlete is important. That fact is not lost on Luther High School senior Alayna Wiles, who set her own expectations aside from what the team hopes to accomplish on the softball field.
“My expectation for this season is to have less than five strikeouts at the plate and more than 75 strikeouts while pitching,” said Wiles.
Wiles said her teammates support means everything, and she loves how close they’ve become, but her inspiration comes from someone at home.
“The thing I love most about my team and teammates is how we all encourage each other through games and practices,” Wiles said. “My dad is the person who inspires me. He has always pushed me to be the best I can be and has been my biggest supporter since the beginning.”
Each teammate is special but there is one who is more vocal and one who keeps everyone laughing.
“The teammate that is most vocal is Anna Tytenicz while she is behind the plate and the teammate that always keeps us laughing is Peyton Wilkins,” said Wiles.
In the classroom, Wiles said she enjoys English class the most. As for her favorite teacher, Wiles said it’s tough to pick just one.
“My favorite subject in school is English and my favorite teacher would be Mrs. Stricklin because she is great teacher and person all in one.”
Outside of softball, Wiles is involved in FCA, STUCO, YAHL and she is a member of National Honor Society. The senior has plans for life after high school.
“After I graduate, I would like to be a cardiovascular sonographer,” said Wiles.
During her time off Wiles enjoys hanging out with friends and family.
