VYPE: What year are you and what sports do you play at Carl Albert?

Azsalind King: It’s my fourth year at Carl Albert High School and I do cheer and track.

VYPE: Are you involved with any other school activities?

AK: Yes, I’m in the Senior Career Internship Program.

VYPE: As a senior on this year’s cheer team, what responsibility do you have as a leader?

AK: I make sure to be encouraging and positive. I also help anyone with cheers and chants that they don’t know. Also, always being available for questions that my teammates may have.

VYPE: What was the first thing about cheer you loved as a kid?

AK: I liked that I made new friends and learned how to tumble and learned new routines. I also loved traveling for cheer.

VYPE: What’s your favorite aspect of cheering now?

AK: I like being in front of a crowd and crowd involvement at games.

VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve received from a coach or teacher?

AK: The best advice I have received from a coach was, “When practice gets hard, say to yourself, I can. I will. I must.”

VYPE: What’s your dream vacation?

AK: My dream vacation is Bora Bora.

VYPE: Which teammate has had the greatest impact on you?

AK: I had a teammate when I was younger on All-Star cheer who had always had a positive attitude when they were going through tough family situations.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

AK: I plan to attend college and get my doctorate in physical therapy.
