Q&A with Christian Heritage’s Ashlynne Hale – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Danielle Hill, Shelter Insurance Agent

Christian Heritage’s Ashlynne Hale

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in basketball?

Ashlynne Hale: My goal is to really help the younger girls to develop to be the best players they can be and ultimately be a good positive influence on them. And to win a state title.

VYPE: What has basketball taught you that you use in your daily life?

AH: Our theme this year is BUOY – Build Up Others Over Yourself. I should be anchored in Christ in order to help others see Him through myself. Which applies not just to how I react on the court, but how I live my life.

VYPE: What’s your favorite style of shoe to wear in game?

AH: I prefer high top shoes to support my ankle because I have quite weak ankles.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

AH: My coach, Mrs. LittleJim, is such a great person. She pushes the whole team to be the best we can and strives for us to grow closer in our relationship with the Lord. Her love for basketball shows how much she cares about the sport and the team’s success. Not just in making buckets, but in our effort and our determination to do what is asked of us.

VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in basketball?

AH: Personally, having confidence in myself. Having the ability to shoot and take control of the court when I need to.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great basketball player?

AH: I think to be a great basketball player you need to be a team player and be encouraging to your teammates. Also having knowledge of the game and knowing what to do and when to do it.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.

AH: My older brother, Zach, is definitely the best athlete. He’s just naturally athletic and always works hard. He’s also the most humble person I know and with his ability that just blows my mind how kind he is.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?

AH: I wish I played softball. It is such a fun sport to watch, and I feel that I wouldn’t be too bad at it.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?

AH: My pregame song is probably “Unwritten” by Natasha Bendingfield. I like it because it’s a happy song and puts me in a good mood.
