Q&A with Jones’ Acyn Hansen – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst

Jones’ Acyn Hansen

VYPE: Acyn, what position are you playing and what’s the most difficult part about playing that position?

Acyn Hansen: I play point guard and the hardest thing about it is having to handle the ball 24/7 and turning around to guard their best player on defense.

VYPE: Coming into the season, what aspect of your game have you improved the most?

AH: I’d say just the confidence I have and letting the game come to me and not forcing anything I don’t have to force.

VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and who keeps everyone laughing?

AH: I’d say I’m the most vocal on the team and Cohen Gaul always keeps the team laughing.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at JHS?

AH: I love the bond we have all around, it’s a close group and we all love playing with each other. From players to coaches we are all ONE.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

AH: I’d say my family in general, everyone is successful in everything they have done. They are all great role models to look up to.

VYPE: What is your favorite subject and who is your favorite teacher?

AH: I’d say my favorite subject in school is writing. It is probably what I am best at. My favorite teacher is coach White.

VYPE: Tell us your favorite memory from any season?

AH: My favorite moment is winning a state championship in football. But my favorite basketball moment is when we created the “upset boys” and hit the Gangnam style after every win.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

AH: I enjoy hanging out with friends and family. Also going hunting with my brothers.

VYPE: What has athletics taught you that you can use in life?

AH: Athletics have taught me that you have to work hard to be successful. Life won’t hand you success, you have to get out of your comfort zone to achieve it.
