Q&A with Jones’ Izzy Thompson – Cross Country Spotlight – Presented by Blue & Gold Sausage Company

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports and activities are you involved in?

Izzy: I am a sophomore at Jones High School. I run cross country and track. Also, I started a Jesus club in my school and I have been trying to get as many people as I can to Jesus.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Izzy: Jair Quinonez because he has been there for me through thick and thin. He has cheered me on at every moment he could. He is three years older than me and he didn’t have to be friends with me but he chose to be kind and make my cross country experience better.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Izzy: It has taught me that consistency is everything. You can’t just give up and come back and expect to be good again. You have to love the process.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Izzy: Getting All State in cross country my freshmen year

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Izzy: My mom inspires me more than anyone in the world. No matter what she faces, she doesn’t give up and she doesn’t lose her faith.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Izzy: Jake Fielder. He was my teacher in seventh, ninth, and tenth grades. I like him because he doesn’t make school boring and I love how he makes everyone feel important.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Izzy: The best advice I’ve ever gotten was simply to trust the process. I know that’s simple but it’s more true than people think. You’re not going to get everything you’ve ever wanted in one instance, you have to love the hard work you put in to get that result you want.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Izzy: My favorite meal is spaghetti and salad

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Izzy: I have always wanted to go to London and I would take my sister, Gabby, with me.
