OUTLOOK
Good experience and depth are two reasons the Westmoore faithful are excited to get back in the gym. Head coach Todd Millwee said the team has several key players back after winning 18 games a year ago.
“With several key players returning from last year’s team the Jaguars are looking to advance further in the State Tournament this season. Westmoore is deep with guards that can get to the rim and shoot the three-ball,” said coach Millwee.
Grant Loper (6-2, Sr.) has developed into one of the toughest players to stop on the offensive end. Loper can get to the rim and finish. He makes good decisions with the ball. Garrett Loper (6-2, Sr.) is another guard with big play potential. The Loper boys make things tough on any defense they face.
Ivan Antwi-Donkor (6-5, Jr.) and Omari Thorne (6-3, Sr.) are two forwards the Jaguars will use in the paint and outside the perimeter. Thorne is a vocal leader on the team and brings positive energy to the team. Look for both guys to work hard on the boards.
VR Ortiz (6-4, Sr.) and Finn Frisby (6-2, Sr.) give coach Millwee another pair who can make plays and sustain a high-energy level. Also look for underclassman Tristan Ladd (6-2, So.) at guard. Ladd is a taller guard with a point guard mentality. Not afraid to work in the paint, Ladd is always looking to get his teammates involved.
Other players to watch include TJ O’Neal (5-11, Jr.) at guard, Samay Natha (5-9, Sr.) at guard, Omar Bautista (6-4, Sr.) at forward, Grayson Whelan (6-4, Sr.) at forward, Gavin Stutson (5-8, Jr.) at guard, and Kevin Enu (6-2, Jr.) at guard.
