OUTLOOK

In her 19th season of Westmoore softball, Jenny Rollins embraces the challenge of taking on a tough schedule with a team that lacks senior leadership but makes up for it with solid sophomores and juniors who are poised for another excellent season.

“Our team is heavy with sophomores and juniors who have gained valuable varsity experience during lasty season, and we look forward to seeing them build on that experience this year. This is a young and talented group of athletes who have good team chemistry and push each other to improve daily,” said coach Rollins.

Entering her sophomore season, Elle Seeley is coming off a stellar freshman campaign as a varsity softball, soccer and track athlete. A natural talent, Seeley brings a strong work ethic to the field and has made significant gains through the summer strength and conditioning program. Seeley will be a factor for the Lady Jags for the next three seasons.

Despite lacking the senior heavy leadership teams depend on, the Lady Jags will field Malia Tini, a senior who is in her first season at WHS and someone who can have that senior presence on the field and in the dugout. Coach Rollins said Tini is, “a strong, hard-working, versatile athlete.” With a productive summer in the weight room, Tini could be a key player this season.

Another player making tremendous strides after a great summer is Shiloh Murphy.

“She has made great strides in her first two years. She is an athlete who seeks feedback and spends time working to get better on the field and in the weight room. She is a great teammate who almost always has a smile on her face,” said coach Rollins.

While Murphy sets a high standard for the team, freshman catcher/infielder Delaynie Frazee has made a smooth transition into the high school game and brings the heart of a competitor. Frazee could be the X-factor for the Lady Jags.

Junior Sophie Kuhlman will carry the bulk of the responsibility in the circle according to coach Rollins.

“Sophie is a great teammate, excellent student and friend. Sophie takes care of her responsibilities on and off the field. She is a student-athlete you can always count on to do the right thing,” said Rollins.
