9 Questions with Southmoore’s Logan Kretchmar – Presented by Eskridge

VYPE: How long have you competed in swim and what first got you interested in the sport? 

Logan Kretchmar: Eight years. I played baseball when I when I was younger. After stopping baseball, I tried swim on a limb and fell in love.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite memory in your time competing for your high school?

LK: My favorite memory was stopping at Braums after a meet with the team and racing to see who could finish a banana split the fastest.

VYPE: How would you describe your senior season? 

LK: My senior season was definitely my favorite because I trained harder than I had before and made the most improvement in my times.

VYPE: Let’s talk about your teammates. Who on your team is the fastest? The loudest? Who keeps everyone laughing? 

LK: We were all pretty similar to each other speed wise, but Kamden and Checotah were some of the most memorable teammates I’ve had and definitely kept everyone on their toes.

VYPE: Do you have any advice for underclassmen in your sport? 

LK: My best advice is to just stick with it. Swim can be a really hard sport, especially when you’re first starting out, but with time it gets way easier.

VYPE: What is your go to post-meet meal? 

LK: My go to meal post-meet is a beef nacho salad and a Dr. Pepper from Taco Bueno.

VYPE: Who do you look to as a role model and why?

LK: My biggest role model is my dad, because he has always been a great example of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. 

VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school? 

LK: My favorite subject in school has always been history, especially my American History classes.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

LK: I will be attending the University of Oklahoma to major in business as well as minor jazz performance.
