Athlete Spotlight with Wayne’s Lane Lewis – Presented by MidAmerica Technology Center

The Wayne Bulldogs baseball team has played in some big games this season, including several shutout wins. Second baseman Lane Lewis is a junior this season and a player coach Collins said is a versatile guy to have on the roster.

“Lane starts at second base for me and plays catcher when needed,” said Collins.

Lewis has stepped up his game at the player providing some offensive pop for the team, while continuing to work on a few things in the field.

“My strength is making solid contact with the ball while maintaining a positive attitude, which helps my teammates stay motivated. This season, I focused on improving my fielding skills, especially my ability to turn double plays,” said Lewis.

Knowing what you want to do with your life after high school can be a difficult question to answer for some, but for Lewis the answer was found at Mid America Tech and their Criminal Law program.

“I enjoy the hands-on learning experience at Mid-America Tech. The class is engaging and allows me to explore different fields. I really like working on projects that apply what I learn in real-world situations,” Lewis said. “Mid-America Tech’s classes prepare me for my future career by providing practical skills and knowledge. I’m learning about areas that interest me, which will give me a solid foundation for college and beyond while offering me opportunities in the future.”

Lewis is looking forward to what comes next, more school and possibly more baseball.“After high school, I aim to attend college, possibly play baseball at the collegiate level, and pursue a degree in a field that interests me. I want to build a career that I am passionate about,” said Lewis.

The junior said his source of inspiration are his parents.
“I’m inspired by my parents. My mom has always been there for me throughout my life and continues to push me harder, making me better every day. My dad has always been an idol to me because of his baseball history and his relentless pursuit of more.”
