Kendall Davis: Pushing Limits and Setting Records
Breaking records and competing at a high level is nothing new for Kendall Davis, but for him, sports are about more than just personal achievements. “Spending my senior year with amazing teammates and friends. A coach can make or break your love for the game, but it’s your team and friends that are the heart behind everything. They make playing worth it,” he said. That sense of camaraderie has helped define his experience at Community Christian High School, where he competes in high jump, long jump, and the 4×100 relay.
Davis credits his success to those who have supported him along the way. “My dad and my mom because they work hard to support us financially but also encourage me to try any sport or activity we want to do while motivating me to do my best across the board. And my best friend, Trevor. He holds me accountable in all aspects,” he said. That accountability has played a key role in his ability to excel across multiple sports.
To perform at a high level, Davis knows that talent alone isn’t enough. “Sacrifice and determination,” he said when asked what it takes to be successful in athletics. His hard work has paid off, as he currently holds three school records in the 4×100, long jump, and high jump, along with earning second place at state in long jump. But he never lets opportunities pass him by—even in sports he’s never played. “I’ve never had a day practicing soccer but got invited to play one game when the team was short a player. One assist and one goal, worth it!”
Though Davis has found great success in sports, he has a different career path in mind for the future. “I’ve already got my apprenticeship and plan to continue that career path by becoming an electrician,” he said. No matter what he pursues, he keeps his faith at the center of it all. “It means the world to me, but I’m only here because it’s where God placed me, so all glory to Him.”
