Kennedy Walker

Norman North High School

When Kennedy Walker started playing softball she was in kindergarten. Now a member of the varsity softball team, Kennedy said she’s always been a competitive person.

“I’ve always been competitive and have loved this sport the most from the very beginning.
I noticed from the beginning this team has a strong work ethic and everyone was willing to work together to be the best we can be and excel as a team,” Kennedy said.

For an incoming freshman, joining the varsity team can be intimidating. Kennedy said her teammates were welcoming and made the freshman class feel at home.

“I love how welcoming they were to us freshmen. From day one they have been accepting and have shown great leadership. They are also a lot of fun,” Kennedy said. “Coach Collins was the first one to teach me how to play this game I love so much. She taught me the fundamentals from a young age and made the game fun. I am excited to be back with her to help grow my game and win for Norman North.”

Kennedy also plays basketball for Norman North. From the field and court, Kennedy said Norman North is a great place to be a student-athlete.
“Norman North offers a wide variety of challenging classes, and the coaches bring in years of experience to help me grow to the be the student-athlete I want to be,” said Kennedy.

As for a source of inspiration, Kennedy said her role model is close to home.

“My Aunt Jacqueline has been a great role model for me. She played travel and school volleyball while she was at Norman North. She then went to Duke University where she got to experience so many amazing adventures. She is currently working with K9 companions raising a puppy that will one day be a service dog to help others. She is attending medical school in the fall and has been a great inspiration for me,” said Kennedy.

When she’s not on the field, Kennedy said she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and going to the lake. Kennedy hopes to one day play softball in college.

“My goal after high school is to hopefully play softball in college and get a degree in a field that provides me with a good career,” said Kennedy.
