Lexington’s Cash Dierking – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman

Lexington High School’s Cash Dierking is entering his first season of varsity basketball. Head coach Derek Clark said Dierking is a hard worker.

“Cash is an incoming freshman that works very hard and should help contribute for us right away. He is versatile and can shoot from outside as well as get to the rim,” said coach Clark.

The shooting guard started playing basketball around the age of four years old. Being a good teammate and supporting his team is a high priority for Dierking.

“Colt Mixon he has come in and surprised everyone this year and took a big leadership role. Colby Haynes keeps everyone laughing and is always having a good time. But Elijah Pearman keeps everyone focused and ready to play,” said Dierking.

The freshman said stepping onto the court and starting as a freshman would be a big deal for him and he hopes his play can help the team win. Dierking said LHS has great coaches and “people who want to be leaders and turn things around.”

Dierking is focused and ready for the season. In the classroom, Dierking is taking the same approach.

“My favorite subject is English, and my favorite teacher is Mike McKay,” Dierking said. “My goal is to go to college and play basketball for as long as I can.”

Before every game Dierking likes to listen to music and get locked in. He said what makes being a student-athlete at LHS are the people.

“Everybody gets along and has a great time together.”
